Hand-Carved Wooden Coffee Drippers

The wooden coffee dripper — chorreador — is one of the most recognizable objects in Costa Rican coffee culture: a carved cedar stand that holds a cloth sock through which hot water slowly filters over ground coffee. Every piece in this collection is hand-carved by artisans in the social reintegration program in San Ramón, Alajuela, so no two drippers are exactly alike — the wood grain, the varnish tone and the carving detail vary piece to piece.
